Shooting product photos with natural light in a Cairo apartment

You do not need a studio. You need a north-facing window, two white boards and a plan for the time of day.

Half of our product shoots happen in apartments, not studios. Natural light is softer, cheaper and closer to how customers will see the product at home.

Find the right window

A north-facing window gives even light for most of the day. In Cairo summers, shoot before eleven or after four, when the light is soft and the room is cooler.

Two boards do most of the work

A white foam board opposite the window fills shadows. A black one on the other side adds shape. That is the whole lighting kit for most products.

Plan the shots before the day

Write the shot list with the final use next to each image: website hero, product page, story. It is the easiest way to avoid a full memory card and nothing usable.
